The production of artwork is a personal form of metaphysical inquiry for figurative artist and SCAD alumnus Adam Gabriel Winnie (B.F.A., painting, 2012). While his current practice has focused on oil painting and charcoal drawing to create hyper-realistic art that is larger-than-life, his multidisciplinary approach applies the techniques of photography, sculpture, video and audio installation, and performance. Since 2003, Winnie has exhibited across the U.S., including at the Sylvia White Gallery, Ventura, California, and The Vendue in Charleston, South Carolina. Additionally, he is the recipient of multiple recognitions, including placement on the shortlist for ArtSlant's Georgia Fee residency in Paris and grants from the Artists’ Fellowship Inc. and The Haven Foundation. From 2014–15, he served on the board of ARC Savannah in Georgia. Winnie, a native of New Boston, Michigan, moved to Savannah after studying photography and welding at Washtenaw Community College in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
