Laurent Grasso

Mulhouse, France

Laurent Grasso’s work is an exploration of the gray areas of ambiguity, mysteriousness and wonder. He proposes temporal and geographical disjunctions in order to reveal the uncanny in the familiar. He is interested in strange phenomenon situated at the border of science and magic, in the representation of catastrophes and in the aesthetics of power. Grasso is a French artist, living and working in Paris, France and New York City. His work has been presented worldwide, in both solo exhibitions as well as in major group shows. Grasso has held residencies at the Villa Medici, Rome, and the International Studio & Curatorial Program, New York. In 2015, he was awarded the esteemed Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture, and in 2008 he was awarded the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize from the Association pour la Diffusion Internationale de l'Art Français.
