An artist and filmmaker, Doug Aitken’s work is an exploration of media from narrative film and photography to print media and live performance. Aitken, a native of Redondo Beach, California, has transformed gallery spaces, city blocks, museum exteriors and more with light projections and architectural installations. In 2016, a survey of his artwork was on view at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, California. His art was also featured at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France; the Serpentine Galleries, London, England; the Kunsthalle Zürich, Switzerland, and elsewhere. Aitken received the 2012 Nam June Paik Art Center Prize and the 2013 American Ingenuity Award. He earned a B.F.A. from the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California. He lives and works in New York, where he is represented by 303 Gallery.
