Re-imagined Space to Honor Falcons Legends of the Game

September 10, 2021 – ATLANTA, GA – The Atlanta Falcons unveiled the new location for their Ring of Honor last night at a star-studded private event at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Falcons have re-imagined this newly dedicated space to honor current and future Ring of Honor inductees to highlight the legacy of their on-field performance, as well as their impact on the National Football League and the Atlanta community.

The new space located inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s 100-yard club on the 300 level was created for Falcons fans to walk through the teams’ history and engage with each of the honorees to learn more about their legacy and impact. The 100-yard club is one of two spaces in Mercedes-Benz Stadium solely dedicated to the Atlanta Falcons; the tunnel-walk outside of the Falcons locker room was updated to reflect the team’s new brand identity launched in 2020.

In attendance were Owner and Chairman Arthur M. Blank, team President Rich McKay, General Manager, Terry Fontenot, Head Coach Arthur Smith, CEO, AMB Sports and Entertainment Steve Cannon, and Ring of Honor inductees including: Georgia native and four-time Pro Bowler William Andrews, five-time Pro Bowler and two-time NFC Offensive Lineman of the Year Mike Kenn, three-time Pro Bowler and Falcons all-time leading rusher Gerald Riggs, five-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro Jessie “The Hammer” Tuggle, four-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro Roddy White, six-time Pro Bowler Jeff Van Note, 1975’s No. 1 overall draft pick and Rookie of the Year Steve Bartkowski, family members of six-time Pro Bowler and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Claude Humphrey, and family members of the five-time Pro Bowler and ”Mr. Falcon” Tommy Nobis.

Other Ring of Honor inductees include Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award recipient, Warrick Dunn and eight-time Pro Bowler, six-time All-Pro Deion “Prime Time” Sanders.

“This new location for our Ring of Honor is yet another investment in our fan experience,” says McKay. “Fan feedback is part of the criteria to determine who is inducted into the Ring of Honor and this is a way for those fans to have their inductees among them and learn more of the Falcons’ heritage.”

In 2004, the Falcons organization started the Ring of Honor to celebrate key people throughout Falcons history that have made a meaningful impact to the team and to the fans. In the new location, each column dedicated to a specific player will feature a career overview, the players stats, community impact and activism, and post football career roles.
