The Home Depot Backyard will feature over 200 free community programs across 27 weeks focused on its three pillars of Health &Wellness, Arts & Culture, and Inspired Learning beginning May 6.
ATLANTA, GA (April 10, 2024) – The Home Depot Backyard (HDBY) announces its programming schedule for the 2024 season. The 27-week schedule will feature over 200 free community programs centered around its three core pillars - Health& Wellness, Arts & Culture, and Inspired Learning - with weekly offerings beginning Monday, May 6 until October from 6:00 p.m. to 8:15p.m.
Commonly known as Atlanta’s Backyard, the HDBY’s programming schedule will be anchored by more than 100 weekly Health + Wellness programs featuring an exciting mix of new and returning fitness offerings every Monday and Tuesday. Mondays will be highlighted by veteran class Maxx Out Fitness with Darrell 'DP' Patterson(bi-weekly) as well as two fan favorites returning from last season in youth fitness with Lah King of Royal Physique (every week during until August) and Enervibes Dance Fit, a Zumba-inspired fitness class, led by Taneisha Gordon(bi-monthly). Tuesdays will feature two fitness offering mainstays in Royal Physique Bootcamp led by King (bi-weekly) and the always popular Hip-Hop Yoga featuring HDBY lead yoga instructor Jaimee Ratliff(bi-weekly). Other prominent classes throughout the season will be 360L.I.I.T (Low Intensity Interval Training) led by DaShaun Johnson, and Electrik Athlete Experience, a functional strength and conditioning program, led by Electrik Fit. Additional classes will be announced throughout the year.
The 2024 slate is highlighted by increased programming in the areas of Inspired Learning and Arts & Culture with over 100 combined offerings throughout the season.
Among the community partners spearheading the HDBY’s Inspired Learning programming are Brown Toy Box, an Atlanta-based, Black and woman-owned S.T.E.A.M. play and education company that will offer family-friendly learning modules and workshops, as well as the Welch Martial Arts Experience, an organization based in Atlanta’s historic Westside that will lead weekly S.A.F.E. Self Defense classes and martial arts training. Additional inspired learning programs include classes led by Atlanta Falcons personnel, outdoor cooking classes led by chef Justin Robinson, youth soccer clinics hosted by Atlanta United Foundation, bike riding classes with Propel ATL, natural haircare classes, pet-centric programming, veteran workshops, and other offerings.
Headlining Arts & Culture offerings at the HDBY this season will be community partners Dance Canvas, anon-profit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities and venues to increase the awareness of professional dance in Atlanta, along with Sway Art, an Atlanta-based art brand that will host a multitude of programs such as pottery making and ‘paint and sip’ classes. Other Arts & Culture programming includes crochet classes, capoeira, photography classes, and more.
Additionally, The Home Depot Backyard will use every fourth Wednesday each month (subject to change) to introduce new health and wellness programs to the space as well as provide unique offerings that spotlight various initiatives. The first such Wednesday, scheduled for May 22, will be themed around National Mental Health Awareness Month.
In 2023, The Home Depot Backyard hosted over 180 free weekly community programs with nearly 10,000 participants attending throughout the season.
