Backyard Fest is the second and final event of 2024 for the award-winning Piedmont Healthcare Summer Movie Experience at The Home Depot Backyard
ATLANTA, GA (September 10, 2024) – The Home Depot Backyard (HDBY), as part of its Arts and Culture collection presented by The Home Depot Foundation, is set to host its final event of the 2024 Piedmont Healthcare Summer Movie Experience with Backyard Fest (or Yard Fest), on September 21, 2024, from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.
This is the second year of Backyard Fest at The Home Depot Backyard, which is an event focused on promoting family togetherness while celebrating the culture and communities of Atlanta’s Westside. Presenting partner Piedmont Healthcare returns to offer unique interactive activations for attendees while SweetWater Brewing will also host a beer garden experience equipped with lounge seating, lawn games, and more during the event.
Headlining the entertainment for Yard Fest will be an evening showing on center lawn of the movie Stomp the Yard, a 2007 dance film celebrating step culture through the lens of fraternities and sororities at a fictional historically Black university, starring Columbus Short and Meagan Good. Additionally, the pre-movie programming will feature a fireside chat with record-breaking film producer and philanthropist Will Packer, CEO and Founder of Will Packer Productions. Packer, whose films have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide at the box office, was one of the producers of Stomp the Yard, a movie that partly filmed nearby at the Atlanta University Center.
The event will also feature special activations such as a college football tailgate watch party, courtesy of AARP Georgia, and complimentary haircuts for the community, courtesy of House of Fades & Style Beauty and Barber Lounge (space is limited, on-site registration required). Other activations include a kids’ zone with STEAM activities, games, food trucks, performances, immersive photo experiences, giveaways, and more. Music will be provided by DJ Waffles with Atlanta socialite Arkeedah McCormick serving as the event’s host.
Backyard Fest will also feature an on-site vendor village, which is a uniquely curated collection of small businesses and vendors from across metropolitan Atlanta offering a wide array of goods and services.
Backyard Fest at The Home Depot Backyard is free and open to the public, but registration is required for entry. Tickets are now available HERE.
The 2023 rendition of Backyard Fest was among the collection of Home Depot Backyard events that garnered Gold Stevie® awards at the 2024 American Business Awards® earlier this year.
