Atlanta’s Backyard will showcase more than 50Black-owned small businesses, entrepreneurs, chefs, creators, and artisans during Truist Night Market on June 13 and its series of free community programs on June 17 and 18.
ATLANTA (May 30, 2024) – The Home Depot Backyard (HDBY), as part of its Arts and Culture collection provided by the Home Depot Foundation, will host a series of events and programs that celebrate the spirit of Juneteenth National Independence Day that includes its second signature event of the season in Truist Night Market: Juneteenth Edition on Thursday, June 13 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. followed by a series of free community programs on June 17 and 18 from 6:00 to 8:15 p.m.
Celebrating Atlanta’s culture and creators as well as the essence of the Juneteenth holiday, Truist Night Market: Juneteenth Edition will showcase more than 30 of the top Black chefs, restauranteurs, and artisans from across the greater Atlanta region. Headlining the musical entertainment for the evening will be Jukebox Band Atlanta, one of the region’s premiere live band experiences. Atlanta native and socialite Arkeedah McCormick returns as the event’s emcee.
Anchored by Atlanta-based spirit brand Greenwood Whiskey, Truist Night Market’s lineup of beverage partners will feature several Black-owned wine and spirit brands including AVM Wine Company, Anteel Tequila, Common Ground Spirits, and Red Hazel Spiced Whiskey.
Additional beverage partners include local Georgia brewing company Creature Comforts Brewing and event staple Tito's Handmade Vodka, who in conjunction with The Home Depot Backyard, continues its partnership with Second Helpings Atlanta, a nonprofit food rescue organization that works to reduce hunger and food waste in metro Atlanta, to donate the event’s surplus food to provide meals for those in need.
Food offerings will feature dishes from some Atlanta’s best chefs and restauranteurs, including Heritage Supper Club, DJ Waffles, Harlem Chop, Loose Lips Eatery, Jimmie's Jerk Chicken & BBQ, Chef Patricia M. Parks, Peppers Hot Dog, Ghost Pizza, Bomb Biscuit Co., Captain Taco, One Taste Bake House, Not As Famous Cookie and more to be announced.
Returning will be several popular activations from the May event, including the Show Ur Ash mobile cigar lounge experience presented by Greenwood Whiskey and the Spa Signia relaxation experience.
Vendor Village, presented by Truist, will showcase up to 20 Black-owned, local artisans and vendors specializing in art, apparel, kitchenware, jewelry, home decor, skincare, and other products.
Food and beverage packages are now available at BigTickets.com. Tickets are required for entry and all attendees must be 21+ to enter. A limited number of entry-only tickets are available at no cost.
On June 17 and 18, The Home Depot Backyard will continue honoring Juneteenth with free community programming centered around its three pillars: Health and Wellness, Arts and Culture and Inspired Learning. The HDBY will feature at least 10 offerings across the two days led by a host of Black-owned small businesses and entrepreneurs, including a Juneteenth-inspired ‘paint and sip’ class featuring Sway Art, a class teaching the Afro-Brazilian martial art form Capoeira led by the Welch Martial Art Experience, a cooking experience with chef Justin Robinson aka ‘The Rockstar Chef’, and a host of health and wellness offerings.
Truist Night Market, in partnership with Southern Culinary & Creative, is one of The Home Depot Backyard’s most successful and tenured signature event series highlighting more than 160 local chefs, restaurants, and artisans from the region since its inception. Since 2019, thousands of attendees have enjoyed a series of evenings filled with live music, craft cocktails, delicious savory, and sweet food options as well as shopping for fine goods and crafts with local artisans.
